Horizon Trembles Lyrics | R.J. Sloane

Horizon Trembles is a cinematic dark country legend song by R.J. Sloane about the ultimate cosmic showdown between law and chaos, life and death.

The ultimate centerpiece of Death of Vanity when the dust settles on a ruined square and darkness claims its victory, true justice does not stay buried in the dirt. It is a song about sacrificial duty, the illusion of defeat, and the inescapable rumble of a reckoning that shakes the very earth.

Lanterns swinging
In the dusty square
Two brothers brawling
Fists in the air
Fighting for the ashes
Of souls bound to lies
While the earth trembles
Underneath the red sky

Outlaw crawls out from the pit
Wounded Sheriff rides thunder down
Lightning slices through the sky
Devil gloats on stolen ground
Blood-crusted hand on ivory
Heavy iron where the hammer fell
Crack that splits the mortal bone
Sealing that outlaw in his cell

Thirty silver coins
Counted on the bar
Outlaw drew his steel
Shot the Sheriff’s star
Blood on the timber
He took every round
Hell raised a glass
Marked the deed done

Outlaw crawls out from the pit
Wounded Sheriff rides thunder down
Lightning slices through the sky
Devil gloats on stolen ground
Blood-crusted hand on ivory
Heavy iron where the hammer fell
Crack that splits the mortal bone
Sealing that outlaw in his cell

Sheriff hits his knees
Clutching his chest
Death rattle ripped
A blood-stained vest
Outlaw kicks his boot
With a sneer of pride
Heavy, hollow sigh
Sheriff closed eyes

Three days in the dust
Cold beneath the stones
Horizon trembles now
Chills the devil’s bones
Spurs begin to clink
Outlaw turns his head
Wounded Sheriff stands
Didn't stay dead

Outlaw crawls out from the pit
Wounded Sheriff rides thunder down
Lightning slices through the sky
Devil gloats on stolen ground
Blood-crusted hand on ivory
Heavy iron where the hammer fell
Crack that splits the mortal bone
Sealing that outlaw in his cell

Crack that splits the mortal bone
Sealing that outlaw in his cell

Listen...
Horizon trembles now
